Why MyVoice?

Why did you join MyVoice?

I joined MyVoice to find a place where youth opinions actually matter. Being part of the MYCC and MyVoice gives us the chance to speak up about issues that affect our community and lives.

Instead of keeping my thoughts to myself, I can now openly share them and watch as real progress is made.

Being part of such a diverse and inclusive community really helped me come out of my shell, learn to listen, and share my ideas.

Here, I feel confident using my voice to make a difference.

I joined MyVoice because I wanted to make sure the youth’s voices are heard. Coming from a small school in Methuen means not being too active in the community school-wise.

I joined MYVOICE because I wanted to be involved in something in my community and have a say in things that affect kids and teens in Methuen.

I also thought it would be a good way to meet new people and learn leadership skills while helping out.

When I first joined MyVoice, I was still relatively new to the city of Methuen after I moved here my freshman year of high school.

I wanted an opportunity that allowed me to get to know my community while simultaneously giving back.

Since joining MyVoice, I have interacted with people of different backgrounds and ages with varying interests and views.

I was able to be vocal about my thoughts and opinions and share them with others. The collaboration at MyVoice has allowed me to better connect with others and make a change despite not living here as long as everyone else.

I joined MYVOICE for many reasons, but primarily to make sure the voices of youth and others were heard. Growing up in Methuen, I feel like, other than after-school programs, there wasn’t much to do, and there wasn’t much of a difference being made in the eyes and voices of youth.

I wanted to explore my different opportunities in the community while being able to have fun and share memories within the community.

Ever since I joined MYVOICE, I’ve witnessed amazing opportunities throughout the community and shared wonderful moments. I can talk about issues and things that I want to change, and how I feel personally as a youth in the community, to bring overall attention to things that are important to help and change.

I joined MYVOICE because I want the youth to be heard. Not to be brushed off, but to make sure that people listen and take their concerns to work on them.

I’ve seen youth just ignored, and every time this happens, I always put that towards my ultimate goal of having the Methuen youth being heard.

Since my arrival here at MYCC, I have met so many amazing and talented people. I’ve also seen many

What does MyVoice mean to you?

To me, MYCC means my voice being heard and using it to give back to the community.

At MyVoice, our instructors strive to make sure all our thoughts and opinions are heard. We, the students, are the leaders–not just the adults. Our input is what leads this organization and what we do.

Our focus is to create a safe place where community members can come and collaborate.

We have various spaces, such as an art room, music room, technology room, game room, and many more, that we would like everyone interested to utilize.

MyVoice has given me the opportunity to give back to my community using my voice.

MyVoice means finally being heard–not just listened to, but taken seriously. Here, it feels like my thoughts matter despite whatever is happening.

It’s a space where my opinions aren't brushed off because of my age or my experiences.

MyVoice gives me confidence to speak up, courage to be honest, and hope that change doesn’t have to wait until I'm older.

It reminds me that my story, my ideas, and my voice have value right now.
